A thought provoking look at the end of time. Doom and Gloom has ever and will always be upon us. Everyday someone comes up with a new prediction of the end of the world. Those who can’t stand the news are jumping off buildings or committing suicide. Some groups have stated they are waiting for the aliens to come back and pick them up. One group claims that comets, like Hail Bop has the mother ship hiding in the tail stream. Members are preparing for their arrival at which point they will go home. Even in the time of my grandmother at the turn of the century, in 1899-1900 there were concerns of the turn to the next century. Although there was not as much discussion of the doom and gloom and the end of time, there was mention of wars all over the planet. But the largest concern of the times and reported upon, were the battles of the giant newspapers in New York, Hurst Publishing and Pulitzer Publishing. They were at the top of global concerns. The 20th century was expected to be a great turn. I have taken a harsh look at many of the end of time scenarios and have given my take and how I think they will play out over time. I have also taken many of these theories and debunked them with my own twist. I would like to say I am showing another side. Take the journey with me and I’ll try to give a rational explanation of how I came up with these opinions. Militant survival camps are popping up all over the country where whole families hold up running their war games and teaching survival skills. Doomsday bunkers are dug out of the earth for safe keeping from the impending atomic fall out. Some people are planning for total anarchy and the breakdown of societal rules. They expect a massive final all out strike from nuclear tipped warheads. The survivalists are loading up trucks with dehydrated food and water by the barrel. Winter rice, beans, and corn, all vacuum-sealed to last 30-40 years unopened. Seed crops, that will withstand radiation bombardment, to be planted once it is safe to venture out of the underground bunkers. Electric solar systems are installed to keep the lights on and a water reclaiming systems to keep fresh water flowing. Storage tanks of water, fuel and olive oil, are squirreled away. Every so often we hear about a modern day prophet like Mr. Harold Camping from California, He and his followers have their own ideas of how the end will come. Camping, a talk-show radio host announced to the world that he, and he alone has deciphered a code from his bible, this code foretells the end of days. On May 21, 2011 everything would come to a screeching halt, and the world will to go up in a massive ball of flames. Judgment day, Armageddon. Harold said, “Jesus, again will be upon the earth.” Problem is…nothing happened. On May 22nd , Mr. Camping gave a new revised prediction. The revised prediction was the same scenario, just moved to October 21st. Camping had followers join in his campaign from all over the world. They listened to his radio programs and attended his church. They were sold on the prophecy that Harold Camping was right. They blindly become a believer and therefore followed his teachings. Some believers were so wrapped in their own fear that they sold everything they had. They cashed out of their 401k, savings, emptied the piggy banks, sold all of their positions and went out on the road spreading the word of Harold Camping and his prophecy of the final days. On May 22nd Mr. Camping had a revelation that he must have made a mistake and quickly went back to his resource the bible, and re-calculated his findings. The big announcement was made… that he had made an error. The end of days would not be the 21st of May 2011, but the 21st of October, 2011. He also foretold the hour of the end, it will be 6 P.M. It is nice to have the 6 o'clock evening news standing by for an update.
